Sagrada Família and the Eixample
The Sagrada Família in the morning, then down the Passeig de Gràcia past Casa Milà and Casa Batlló. It is one avenue, so the day has almost no transfers: the modernist facades stand in a row.

Park Güell and Gràcia
Park Güell sits on a hill, and the walk down leads into Gràcia, a district of small squares and Casa Vicens, Gaudí's first house. Take transport to Sant Pau hospital — that is a good two kilometres across the city.

Gothic Quarter and the port
The cathedral, Plaça Reial, the Boqueria market — the old town takes an hour on foot if you skip the side streets, and the side streets are the point. It ends at Port Vell, a short walk from the waterfront.
