Paris in a weekend: the Louvre, the Seine and the Marais
A route for a first acquaintance with the city: major sights, a walk along the Seine and one of the most atmospheric historic districts.
Day 1
Start the morning near the Louvre. Even if you do not plan to spend several hours inside, the museum courtyard and the glass pyramid are worth a visit. After the museum, cross the Tuileries Garden to Place de la Concorde and continue along the Champs-Élysées.
In the evening, climb the Arc de Triomphe or head to the Eiffel Tower. The best time is about an hour before sunset.
Day 2
In the morning, explore the Marais. Historic architecture, small squares, bakeries and independent shops have been preserved here.
After lunch, walk along the Île de la Cité, see Notre-Dame Cathedral and finish the day with a boat ride on the Seine.
Where to pause
It is better not to try to visit every museum at once. One major museum and a long walk through the city usually leave a more pleasant impression.
The “first acquaintance in two days” format works especially well in spring, summer and early autumn, when the city is easier to cover on foot and the light lasts longer.
